Comment: This sculpture contains vertical bars of earth-colored acrylic paint interspersed with the natural pinewood surface. The orange vertical stripes symbolize fire, and the blackened swirls inside the core symbolize the charcoal remains and smoke damage to massive redwood trees that survived the wildfires that swept the North Coast several years ago. This sculpture is an attempt to fuse two very different styles: organic and abstract.
